Based outside the city of Béziers in the old province of Languedoc, Mas de Sébillon is a wife-and-husband team who specialize in estate-bottled wines of the Languedoc and Roussillon areas. Convinced of the quality potential in this venerable region, Armelle Gosselet and her husband Alain settled in the area and began to seek out some of the leading growers in the Faugères, Corbières, Minervois, Saint-Chinian, Côtes du Roussillon and Coteaux du Languedoc areas.
The Languedoc-Roussillon area enjoys a very rich history dating back to Greek and Roman times, but today still tends to be associated with inexpensive wines produced in volume. That may apply to some wines grown in the fertile lowland plain, but within the specific appellations there are several new, diligent growers who are setting their own high quality standards. Mas de Sébillon identifies the best of these and is responsible for marketing their wines on the export market. They represent some of the top estates in each appellation, which have been awarded high ratings in the French press (Guide Hachette, Revue du Vin de France, etc).
Their portfolio is very extensive, ranging from moderately priced varietals (for which the region is famous), up to select cuvées produced only in the best vintages. They deliberately seek out growers who specialize in organic farming, avoiding the use of pesticides in the vineyard, and several of their estates are certified organic winegrowers.
Mas de Sébillon exports around the world, and is riding the crest of popularity as consumers rediscover the quality potential of the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
