Château Les Bouysses

France > Sudouest > Cahors

Description:
The estate of Château Les Bouysses is located near the Lot River Valley in the Cahors district, in the township of Prayssac. Vines have been grown on the property for decades, but under the management of its present marketer, Sudouest Millésimes, the estate has moved into the forefront of Cahors producers. The property was completely replanted thirty years ago, and the vines are now in full maturity. Château Les Bouysses belongs to the “Seigneurs,” a Cahors Winegrowers Association that applies very strict quality standards for production and winegrowing.

Like all good Cahors, Château Les Bouysses is predominantly made from Malbec (85%), but to enhance fruit and add complexity, a little Merlot is also grown. The result is a fine Cahors that is characteristically dark in color, with a flavor suggestive of blackberries and dark fruits, and sufficient tannin for aging. Since 1996, the estate has consistently been awarded silver and gold medals at the Paris Concours Général, the Concours Blayais-Bourgeais and the Concours Régional de Castelsarrasin, and is recognized as one of the outstanding producers in the area.
